A worn or badly broken Elbow can make eating, washing and dressing hard. In the right patient, an Elbow Replacement gets the Joint moving and comfortable again.

When an Elbow Replacement may help

  • Advanced Arthritis of the Elbow, including Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Severely shattered (comminuted) Fractures around the Elbow that can’t be reliably fixed
  • Arthritis or Stiffness after an old Elbow Injury

Elbow Replacement for shattered Fractures

Some Elbow Fractures break into too many pieces to rebuild with Plates and screws. In selected patients, I have replaced the Elbow instead, so they could start moving it much sooner than a complex Fixation would allow. Whether this suits you depends on the Fracture, your age and how you use your Arm.

Your Surgery and recovery

Surgery is done at AIG Hospitals, Banjara Hills. You’ll start gentle movement early under Physiotherapy guidance, and I’ll explain the lifting limits that protect the new Joint.
